Etude: The Monster Line

Hello friends! SOOOOOOO I don't know if this is a thing here in USA but like, back at home, the micellar cleaning water is so trendy now 🔥 Many brands are out with the water and if you don't know what it is, it is just your typical cleaning water that removes unwanted substance from your face. It works with mild substances and the 'micellar' is a chemical that actually helps rid you of the dirt and makeup into tiny balls (that you can't really see) called micelles. I like to use this holy water after using my oil-based makeup remover. It's actually like a toner if I would say. Thus they are very gentle on the skin.

Today I'm reviewing two cleansing water that are in the same line - MONSTER by Etude, a cute K-brand that I loveee 💕

Backstory: I got my first bottle (☝️)  as I was in Seoul, South Korea, for my high-school graduation trips with my closest girls. In most make-up stores in Asia, they will have testers for us and ofc stations across the store with soaked-with-makeup-remover cotton pads or dried cotton pads and a bottle of makeup remover that we can use to remove those makeup swatches from our hands. Most of the time, these removers are what they are currently promoting and want us to buy. Their market strategy ofc caught me off-guard when it did magically remove all colors from my hand....and yeah, I bought it.

☝️ ETUDE: Monster Micellar Cleansing Water
  • Price:
    • 340 THB and here it is $13.20 for a 300 mL bottle
    •  $16.80 for a 700 mL bottle
  • Review:

    • It helps me removes all excess makeup left from my first routine of make-up cleaning with oil-based remover.
    • Gentle on the skin
    • Repurchased my second bottle already
    • You can't use it for long because you actually need a lot of the product when you clean your face or soak the cotton pads.
    • Works really well with cleaning excess foundation BUT not really good on waterproof stuff eg. mascara.
    • The bottle is sooooo cutteeeee
  • Stars:
    • ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ (my stars are out of five)
      • It is truly good but the minus 2 stars is because the product is wasteful.

✌️ETUDE: Monster in Oil Cleansing Water (not really micellar but a good cleansing water)
  • FYI:
    • It has the same properties as (☝️) but this is the upgraded and newer one with OIL
  • Price:
    • $11.70  for a 300 mL bottle
  • Review:
    • This cleansing water is formulated with yellow oil so it definitely boost the cleaning property meaning it helps better with waterproof and heavy makeup.
    • I love this one better for I want my face to be squeaky clean and don't want to use up the product fast.
    • An extra oil property doesn't really make the cleansing water that oily and it's more on the watery side which I favor.
    • For me, I after I use up my (☝️) I will just continue to buy this instead or maybe try out other brands (wait for my future reviews).
  • Stars:
    • ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ ⭐️  (my stars are out of five)
      • minus the one star because this is just a very extra step in my routine

It's up to you if your want to buy it and add an extra routine into your routine? LOL I should definitely improve my English...ahem 😂 So I you as me which one to buy, I would say, it's up to your makeup style, if it's heavier, buy the second one for it cleans better, if you do light/natural makeup, buy the first. Oh if you have lash extensions, definitely buy the first for oil is not something you want on your extensions.

Sulwhasoo - First Care Activating Serum Ex

This is my holy grail(?), I'm currently on my second bottle and it'sssss soooo good? This baby is Sulwhasoo's First Care Activating Serum Ex. I bought my first bottle aka. the picture down below, at Narita Airport when I was transiting from my home, Thailand, to USA🇺🇸. I admit buying it because I'm a hardcore k-beauty fan and also it's a brand I heard of (kinda on the higher-end side = I NEED it) as a good brand, thus, Song Hye-Kyo, one of my fav actress, the hubby of Song Joongki, is the brand ambassador of it. Another reason I bought it was because I had three hours to spare at the airport and was debating which brand to buy, Sulwhasoo or SKII...ofc...the me at that time chose the cheaper one...well...price varies on each product. Oh not to forget the packaging is limited edition for it is the new year period and the beginning of the year Dog Year (Chinese zodiac thingy).

Enough of me babbling, here's the review:

  • Price
    • $84  (on website - don’t really know coz I bought it at duty free in Narita Airport)
    • sorry~
    • but I swear there's always a promotion where you buy it at a shop or airport and you get a discount for buying a set of their products.
      • I got a discount for my second-time purchase at Incheon Airport
        • cheaper to buy in Korea
  • Size
    • 60 mL
    • Definitely worth the price even though I used it up in just one semester (5 months).
    • I completely emptied the bottle and even double-checked inside to see that nothing is left
  • Description
    • It's "an essential first-step serum formulated with JAUM Balancing Complex™ assures a glowing and healthier look by harmonizing the balance of skin."
    • It contains over 3000 Korean herbal ingredients the serum is said to help hydrate and balance skin for a healthy and glowing look.
  • Application
    • Very easy to apply and absorbs into the skin real quick.
  • How it's like
    •  It makes your skin looks healthy but at the same time a bit yellow because the serum is yellowish brown in color.
      • its exactly the color of honey or should I say maple syrup 🍯
    • It makes your skin tight (or firm?) that it makes it feels dry but believe me, its hydrating.
    • The consistency isn’t that watery and smell like herbal/oriental medicine - a pleasant one.
    • It helps nourish my dry skin and also help remove dulness and soon to come sign of aging.
  • Cons
    • When initially applied, it can cause redness
      • many are allergic to it BUT many, aka. me, loves it
    • It's on the pricey side
  • Will I repurchase it?
    • I did and will again if my stock runs out
  • Where to buy
  • Stars: ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ (my stars are out of five)

Marc Jacobs Beauty: Shameless Youthful-Look 24H Foundation SPF 25

Okay! Back at it again! It's really a windy day out there in Blacksburg. The foundation that I will be reviewing today is something I purchased just when it came out on Sephora but just got to review it here - Marc Jacobs Beauty's Shameless Youthful-Look 24H Foundation SPF 25.

Summary of the babe:

  • Price
    • $ 46 (about 1500 THB)
      • when I bought it ("during it's promotion period hehehe ^,^" - I wish you could see my face now), the Seamless - Liquid Foundation Brush No. 4 was gifted for free. It's $38!
      • so the actual total should be $84 hehehe, I'd got a gooooodd deal.
  • Size
    • 1.08 oz / 32 mL
    • It's on the smaller size and the packaging makes it easy to put it in your pocket or bag. Fits perfectly behind the back of my jeans LOL
    • Gonna be used up fast if you're heavy-handed on doing base-makeup
  • Coverage
    • VERY GOOD yet not that thick on the skin
    • It perfectly covered my panda eyes from pulling all those all-nighters.
  • Wear
    • Not 24 hours but long enough to survive my normal day
    • a bit oily at the end of the day but perfectly fine
  • Shade Range
    • 29 shades
    • I think this foundation is better for those with yellow undertone (many yellow-undertone shades)
    • I got mine in Medium Y340 which is gonna be really good when gloomy winter hits (kinda too light now that it was summer and now fall)
  • THE BRUSH
    • verrryyyy good but very hard to clean
    • SOFT = gentle on the skin
    • glides your foundation easily
    • I give it a 4.6/5
  • Where you can buy it
  • Stars: ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️ (my stars are out of five)
